Its design inspired by Chinese architecture, Le Bataclan Paris is an eye-catching building. It was built in 1864 and even before the first performance, the venue's music / theatre functionality was apparent: Le Bataclan Paris is a direct reference to Offenbach's opera, 'Ba-Ta-Clan'.
Today, the Le Bataclan schedule is a colorful array of rock and pop gigs, stand-up comedy, dance-club / disco nights and 'café-théâtre'. However, in its earlier days, Le Bataclan Paris was a larger-size 'café-concert' serving primarily to accommodate the vaudeville genre of entertainment which was so popular at the time.
To this day, the venue's intimate setting, and distinctive decor along with its consistently impressive calendar of events ensures that Le Bataclan Paris remains a very popular and highly acclaimed institution on the Parisienne live entertainment scene.
